Seacorp's ship agency division can render expert advice to charterers, shippers and traders at any port in Australia. In 2008 Seacorp handled in excess of 620 port calls accounting for over 41 million tonnes of cargo types. These include alumina, bauxite, caustic soda, cement clinker, chemicals, crude oil, fertiliser, iron ore, various grain stuffs, salt and slag. A standard component of Seacorp's service is it can supply clients with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor all facets of the shipping operation.
Seacorp Broking
Seacorp is Australia's largest independently owned shipbroking company specialising in the chartering of breakbulk and dry bulk commodities to various destinations. During 2008 Seacorp chartered in excess of four million tonnes of various dry bulk commodities ranging from small Handysize up to Panamax size tonnage.
Our team of specialised shipbrokers have a wealth of knowledge and experience in handling all facets of dry bulk chartering and operations and over the years have built up strong relations with all the major shipowners and operators servicing Australia and its nearby regions. We also utilise a formidable network of independent shipbrokers situated in the major markets of London, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, China and Greece to compliment our activities.
Through our global alliances and sources we provide our clients with immediate up to date market intelligence and are regularly called upon to provide our expertise and assistance in implementing forward planning strategies. This includes regularly appraising Ship Charter Party terms and conditions to ensure our clients' interests are protected and enhanced.
Seacorp Coastal Shipping
Seacorp has a long-term State Government contract to provide coastal shipping services which link North West ports with Fremantle and Darwin. The shipping services, which run on regular 17 day cycles, sail between Fremantle, Dampier, Port Hedland, Broome, Wyndham and Darwin.
Seacorp won the Western Australian Government tender for this shipping service against major national and international listed organisations. The independent company's success in winning this tender is testimony to its ability to offer a total package that delivers economic, environmental and social benefits for the region.
Part of the Seacorp shipping package includes contributions to the national Coast Watch program and the Weather Watch scheme and committing the Kimberley Rose for pilot training.
Seacorp also draws on its association with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) - the second largest container operator in the world - to offer shippers and importers a gateway to and from the rest of the world. This allows cargo to be shipped to/from the North West via Fremantle to any of the 270 ports serviced in MSC's worldwide network.
This coastal shipping service is delivering significantly reduced freight costs, is helping to improve the viability of marginal businesses and can guarantee reliability of supply during the wet season when roads are closed.
The vessel, MV Kimberley Rose has an unimpeded deck length of 70 metres and is ideally suited to transporting non-time sensitive and “awkward over-dimensional cargoes.” It is equipped with two 80-tonne cranes, located on the portside, which can be operated in tandem and lift 160 tonne.
